4 Small Paintings

1855 All Shapes and Sizes 5"x 7 "

1856 Yellow and Green 5"x 7"

1857 Me and My Shadow 5"x 7"

1858 Out of the Shadows 5" x 7"

My last four small paintings finished and framed, the car is packed and we are ready to roll. Two stops along the way, the first is to visit some dear friends and then on to Dungarvan to pick up some paintings, hope they will fit in the car!

We will be staying while in Wexford, at Killurin Lodge B&B,(highly recommended) for the duration where we will enjoy the hospitality of Clare and Collin and some gorgeous breakfasts!

The set up day is tomorrow and will probably take us all day to hang the show, and then Thursday will be the first day of the Exhibition. YAY!

1854 Autumnal Colour

Red seems to be the predominant thread running through a lot of my small paintings, the colour seems to be more zingy with a dark background.

1847 Many Reflections

40 x 80cm / 16" x 32" oil on canvas
Finally finished! This one took me ages as you can probably imagine. Somebody suggested that some of my still life paintings need a more interesting background, (I tend to keep them plain) hence the Persian rug behind the set up. I love the results, but the pattern of the carpet nearly drove me crazy, but I persevered nevertheless.

1846 Three Cheeses

40 x 50 cm oil on panel
A classic subject matter and popular with the male population! I bought the cheeses at a glorious cheese shop in Galway that stocked every conceivable cheese known. The round cheese is called Reblochon  a French mountain cheese, a bit smelly but had a wonderful nutty, creamy taste, the orange coloured cheese at the back was a mature Gouda and tasted almost like Parmesan cheese and had to be shaved off the wedge. Lastly a lovely wedge of Stilton, all gone now of course!

1813 At Rest

12" x 9" oil on panel, framed, Available

First of my paintings for the Dungarven Group Summer Show at the Dungarvan Arts Centre.
My hubby and I took a trip down to Waterford and the Dungarvan area to get some ref pics of the area. Dungarvan is on the south coast of Ireland on an estuary, and of course very picturesque, we chose a perfect sunny day and  I got lots of great photos. I will probably paint around 8 paintings for inclusion.

Friday, 19 June 2015

1815 Working Boy

10" x 12" /25.4 x 30.5cm oil on panel, framed, available

Starting to paint a few horses for the upcoming horse show in Dublin. This lovely equine example lives at a farm near to where we lived in Mountmellick.
I forgot to photograph him after I had finished painting and he got framed, taking a pic when a painting is framed is not ideal.

1810 Pitcher Perfect SOLD

30 x 60cm oil on canvas,available when framed

A similar set up to a previous painting so that they are a pair.

Monday, 15 June 2015

1811 No Coffee

50 x 40cm oil on canvas available when framed

A simple set up so I thought that it would be a relatively easy one to paint, but of course each painting has it's own difficulties, like getting lost in the folds of the material, finding the right mixes for the shadow colours.and composition etc.

1809 Painted by Nature

8" x 10" / 20 x 25cm oil on canvas board, available

My hubby bough at the local market, along with some duck eggs, these beautiful quail's eggs. I had never seen any in real life before and they really looked as if somebody had painted each egg. Because they are so small it was difficult to find items that didn't dwarf them in my set up.
