1862 'Blue to You'

45 x 35 cm oil on canvas, available

This one has been finished since last week and it has taken me this long to get around to posting it!
I quite like the effect of the plain border, I will see how they are received before painting anymore like this. At the moment I am in the middle of quite a complicated one, which of course is taking ages  I think it will be worth the effort in the end though.

1861 We're Behind You

18" x 14" =45 x 35 cm oil on canvas

Playing around with new ideas, modernizing a classic subject matter. I must say I did get the idea from another artist I admire, but I have put my own twist on it.

The sun is shining today makes such a wonderful change from all this dreary weather we have been having lately

1860 Limey Gathering

5" x 7" 13 x 18 cm oil on panel, available

Number two small painting, these small ones help me get back into the flow and don't take too much time, I have a larger one ready to be finished today.
I primed the boards with black gesso and sanded them smooth, which was a mistake as the paint slid right off it! I had to paint several layers just to get a bit of 'tooth' on the panel and cover the black, I made the back ground a very dark green to complement the fruit.

1859 Three Companions

5" x 7"= 13 x 18 cm oil on panel available

It has been so long since I last blogged, I took a break from painting in December after a very busy painting year. Since Christmas I have been trying to invent a new style to go along with my realistic paintings, so far I haven't come up with anything that I'm happy  with, I've tried painting on textured grounds, blurry landscapes, poured acrylic abstracts, collaging all without hitting the jackpot. So I thought that I would go back to what I know and love for awhile and get centred again as I was feeling a bit discombobulated! Torn hither and thither and not knowing where I was going, I'm sure something will develop in time if I stop trying so hard.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and is enjoying the new year   with lots of resolutions!
Many thanks to all my readers for following me, you faithful ones!
