1885 Spong 702

40 x 40 cm = 16" x 16" oil on panel

Interesting vintage design from the 70's a mincer, grater, slicer. I was drawn to the colour and shape of this kitchen gadget when I bought it to paint, I might even use it too!

1883 'Refreshments'

40 x 40 cm =16" x 16" oil on canvas board

Back to still lifes, thought I'd try a different composition and I'm liking the result  I will probably paint a few more like this one.

1882 'Free'

24" x 18" = 60 x 45 cm oil on canvas

I have decided to stop fiddling with this one, kept changing colours and tones and found it frustrating trying to mix the correct colours for the horse's coat, that orange -y red !! tried all sorts of combinations, the best was red ochre and yellow ochre lightened with naples yellow. Wasted a lot of paint finding that out!

1881 By Candle Light

6" x 8" = 15 x 20 cm, framed, ready to hang

I finished this painting a few days ago and didn't get around to posting it, small paintings like this sometimes take as long to paint as larger ones.

I bought these miniature sweet peppers at a local shop, they taste more aromatic than their big brothers, I'm saving their seeds and may try to grow one or two plants. The weather here is very windy and not very warm so they will need quite a bit of protection.

1880 Little Lick

14" x 18" / 35 x 45 cm oil on canvas,

I'm really enjoying painting horses at the moment especially this young one, who's giving his hind quarters a little lick!
