11" x 14" / 28 x 35.5 cm oil on panel
A local scene of rustic farm buildings in the late afternoon light. An old bedstead propped against a wall as an improvised gate and an old bike tyre leaning against the low wall all things that drew me to this subject matter. The roofs very often clad in corrugated iron, rusting to give added colour to the scene.

11" x 14" / 28 x 35.5 oil on panel
Just finished, another wintry landscape, along the same country road as the last painting, just a bit further along. Both buildings are abandoned and forlorn but are still picturesque on this cold and frosty morning. To the left, what looks like a dead tree is actually a telephone pole adorned with the remnants of dead ivy entwined around it. Ivy is everywhere here and finds many trees to encircle and grow up into.

11" x 14" / 28 x 35.5 cm oil on panel
There is a very pleasant walk not far from me, a narrow country lane almost a track in places, a few farmers and other people live along there but also at least 5 uninhabited houses and cottages that are slowly sliding into decay and this is one of them. I wonder who had lived here and why they left and let their property fall into a ruin. The interesting thing about this cottage is that it is semi-detached and the other half of the house is lived in and well cared for.

20 x 15 cm / 8" x 6" oil on panel, framed
My last little lad in this short series, no more painting for now until I get back from the art festival in Wexford. Getting everything framed and ready to go, endless lists of things to take, how we will get it all in the car I don't know! Over 100 paintings and I'm not taking all!!

7" x 10" / 17 x 25 cm oil on panel, framed
You might not recognize the prickly fellow on the right of the painting. No it's not a mini hedgehog! it's a horse chestnut casing found by my family in our local forest. Unfortunately edible chestnuts are not native to Ireland.

A bag of apples from a friend from his many fruit trees gave me the idea for this painting. (I made a French apple tart with this one along with some of his mates, yum!)

8" x 12" = 20 x 30 cm oil on panel framed
I haven't been too well lately with a touch of flu and a cough that won't go away, so that has slowed down my production, only a couple of weeks until the Opera and Art Festival in Wexford, so got a few more small ones to do before then!

8" x 20" / 20 x 50 cm oil on panel, framed and available
This was really a labour of love/hate especially the strawberry pips, I have to say that I am happy with the results and also that it's finished!
My hubby did an outdoor exhibition for me in Dublin at the week-end, which despite the awful weather forecast of winds and rain, was quite a success with 9 paintings being sold. This helps pay for the upcoming Exhibitions and framing. He's a good salesman so he will get to do more next year, I've already warned him!

20 x 25 cm / 8" x 10" oil on panel
My favourite colour combination, the petals of the 'mums' are slightly more textured to give contrast to the smooth and shiny glass bottles and ceramic glazed egg cup.
Just got back from Dublin and the outdoor art exhibition around St Stephens Green, despite showery, blustery weather, 9 paintings found new owners and I'm a happy bunny!

25 x 20 cm / 10" x 8" oil on panel, framed and ready to hang
Another dark one, not the easiest to paint, drove me slightly potty, couldn't get the glow of the candle right and had to paint the background three times to get it even, I kept smudging other colours onto it.
Just bought myself a huge box of latex gloves to protect my hands as I'm always having to clean my hands, I'm such a messy worker. They are great when I remember to wear them!!

Good ol' cheese and grapes back by popular demand! The set up is on a piece of weathered slate roof tile, found near an old derelict house close to where I live.

Thought that I would like to create a more dramatic still life, so I set this one up just before going to bed on a piece of black velvet and one overhead lamp. I took about 40-50 photos, playing around with the lighting and the set up, then started painting next day from the pic I liked most.

30 x 40 cm oil on canvas, sides painted, available
Another abstract that evolved into a sea-scape! I started out having only the colours in mind and let my brush and palette knife have free reign, I like the heavy dark sky lightening to the horizon, far, far away.

Another experiment in semi abstract painting, kept quite monochrome, painted on an oxide red base layer. Got so many ideas and styles I want to try out, the possibilities are never ending!

This is a painting I did a number of years ago and as it was unvarnished I decided to improve upon the original!
I am backed up a bit with my posts as I have been painting madly and haven't got around to photographing them yet.

I love composing still lifes and finding unusual objects for them.
The tiny abandoned nest I found attached to a garden fence post in a friends wild garden. It is beautifully constructed from moss, that grows abundantly here in Ireland, sheep's wool from her sheep and the course hairs from her horses tails, who graze in the adjacent field.
I placed the nest on an old slate roof tile, found on a walk when passing several ruined cottages, and the old copper jug acquired at a recent auction and a couple of hens' eggs to finish off the arrangement.
