1846 Three Cheeses

40 x 50 cm oil on panel
A classic subject matter and popular with the male population! I bought the cheeses at a glorious cheese shop in Galway that stocked every conceivable cheese known. The round cheese is called Reblochon  a French mountain cheese, a bit smelly but had a wonderful nutty, creamy taste, the orange coloured cheese at the back was a mature Gouda and tasted almost like Parmesan cheese and had to be shaved off the wedge. Lastly a lovely wedge of Stilton, all gone now of course!

I love these classic paintings, Diana, and you certainly have a wonderful gift for painting them. Marvelous detail from the Bordeaux bottle to the few cheese crumbs on the cutting board.
