1804 'Jugged'

8"x 6"/ 20 x 15cm oil on panel,framed

I bought a box full of jugs/pitchers at auction quite awhile back and am gradually including them in my still lifes, always trying to think up new combinations and set ups this one is fairly straight forward, I like to keep it simple in these small formats.

I need to paint some really large ones too and have a plan of how many I need of each for my upcoming exhibitions, I try not to freak myself out with the amount of work I have to accomplish, just take it one step at a time!

1803 Left to Rust

Another one for the exhibition, an interesting piece of farm equipment, what it was used for I don't know. I do know it has a seat, any ideas?

1802 Dusk

8" x 6" oil on board, framed

I am painting a series of paintings for my next exhibition, with the theme of 'past times'. I thought that it would be easier than it is to paint with a theme in mind. Anyway these are our local Portumna Priory ruins at dusk on a fine evening, there are so many castles and ecclesiastical buildings mostly in ruins and other buildings that have been left to crumble away into the land scape here in Ireland that I thought it would make a perfect subject.

1801 Flown Away

30 x 40cm / 12" x 16" oil on canvas

This was a set up in my old oak drawer,  the back which is the base of the drawer gets more and more fragile, and as you can see is falling apart, I like it though, because it adds character to my paintings.

Our naughty kitty got hold of the feathers and ran off with them and crushed the green egg in the process, it was quite a job to re-create the arrangement  I was only half way through painting it.

The tiny egg shells my daughter found on one of her mushroom hunts into the forest.

1800 Where's the Carrots?' SOLD

8" x 10"/ 20 x 25cm oil on canvas board framed

This handsome fella came to see if we had some carrots and was rather disappointed when we were empty handed. I will be painting more equine subjects in the near future as I will have a stand at the Dublin horse show in August.

1799 At the Lake's Edge

12" x 9" / 30.5 x 23cm oil on panel

This is Lough (lake) Derg my town borders onto it, many reeds and rushes grow around the perimeter, they die back in winter and in spring the new shoots break their way through the old layer of broken off reeds. The sun was setting, colouring the clouds pink with it's last rays, it is a simple scene yet beautiful in it's simplicity.

1795 And Baby Makes Four

8" x 10" oil on canvas board, framed available on my web site

There are some paintings that one 'fiddles' with and this for some reason was one of those. Sometimes the faults don't pop out until you photograph the painting, then it's back on the easel to get it right.
