1714 Two Shine Out SOLD

35 x 45 cm oil on stretched canvas (13.7" x 17.7")

I bought a box of oil lamps from a local auction sale, this is my favourite one made of dull brass with a shiny black terracotta base. I made the mistake of turning it up-side down to find it still full of oil or kerosene not sure which, but it made my hands smell of it for ages!

I'm enjoying painting on canvas again, after using boards for so long that I have gessoed and sanded. I have found some really great Italian ones, although cotton and not linen, the surface is really smooth and fine and is such a pleasure to paint on.

They are all metric sizes now as all the manufacturers have finally switched, not that it matters much as I get them framed professionally.

Cali! NFS

6" x 8" oil on board

A small portrait of this sweet rescue dog I painted from photos my blogging friend Hilda sent me. I couldn't bring myself to put the painting up for sale so instead I sent her as a little thank you to her owner, who is a faithful blog follower and commenter on my blog.

1712 Lounging Lemon SOLD

8" x 10" / 20.3 x 25.4 cm,  oil on panel

Lemons seem to keep popping up in my still lifes, I guess I just like their shape and colour and teamed with a piece of yellow satin ribbon they shine cheerfully to brighten these grey days of winter with all it's rain and winds.
