1711 White on White

11" x 14" oil on panel, to be framed

I thought that I would set myself a challenge and paint just white things on a white cloth, the only colour is in the back-drop. The tiny Chinese cup on the right balances the composition.

1710 Light Patterns

16" x 12" /40 x 30 cm oil on stretched canvas

I bought a box of old stained glass windows, some in poor condition, from a local auction house along with a box of oil lamps and glassware, a carpet and a set of bone china. I've got so much stuff to paint now my shelving is over full! I think it will take me a long while to use them all.

This glass panel I set on a table with the natural light from my window flooding in and when the sun came out  it projected light and shadow from the uneven surface of the glass onto the wall and there was the perfect set-up!

1709 Candle Glow

16" x 20" oil on panel, unframed

This painting took me quite awhile to get  the colours and tones right because of changing light conditions. Since moving my in house studio to a room with a north facing window, it has made a big difference. I have also got a new studio easel and a standing lamp with a large shade and a photographic light bulb which is  ideal for dull days.

Photographing dark paintings is another challenge again, especially combating glare off the surface and specks that glow on the surface.

1708 Have You Brought Us Treats? SOLD

6" x 6" 15 cm,  oil on canvas

We came upon these fluffy and well rounded donkeys, during the summer on one of our walks. We had decided  to explore the area we had moved to, choosing random country lanes to see what interesting finds we could make. The donkeys were in a larger group and as we stood at the gate looking at them and other livestock roaming around in the farmyard, these two came up for a close look at us probably hoping for a carrot or an apple or two.

1707 Shy Inspection SOLD

6" x 6"= 15 x 15 cm oil on canvas,   available

This was one of a herd of young steers that came to the hedge to inspect us 2 legged specimens, they are such funny, inquisitive creatures and like to see whose visiting them up close.  Where I live I am not short of cows to photograph, that and sheep are very abundant here in Ireland.

1705 Miss Yellow Eyes SOLD

6" x 6"= 15 x 15cm oil on canvas, sides painted.

I was inspired by Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days challenge on her blog, I'm a bit late as the challenge started at the beginning of the month so I don't know whether I can sign up for it anymore, but I will do it anyway. I haven't painted any animals recently so I'm taking a break from still lives for a while.
