1765 Full Moon Over the Lough & 1766 Scudding Clouds

Two oil paintings on canvas 13" x 9 1/2" / 33 x 24cm (at the framers)
These were painted shortly before I went down to Wexford for the exhibition and I didn't get a chance to post them as so many other things had precedence.

There was a beautiful full moon late October, I had noticed, when my daughter came back from her Yoga class, she suggested we   take some pics of it down at our local lake, Lough Derg, which turned out to be quite an adventure in itself as it was so windy. Finding a good vantage point and trying to adjust my camera in the dark was fun, I got a lot of fuzzy shots, under exposed and overexposed and the like but managed to take a couple that were worth painting. I really enjoyed painting them and have a few more ideas for moonlit scenes, just got to wait for the right night and weather!

These two paintings are so amazing Diana!!! It's even more beautiful with such a limited palette! I love the reflection in the water from the moon and the powerful sky in the second one. LOVE, LOVE them and hope to see more landscapes.

Beautiful scenes, Diana, and well worth venturing out on a dark, windy evening.

Lovely scenes for sure. The second is my favorite with those billowy clouds.
