1714 Two Shine Out SOLD

35 x 45 cm oil on stretched canvas (13.7" x 17.7")

I bought a box of oil lamps from a local auction sale, this is my favourite one made of dull brass with a shiny black terracotta base. I made the mistake of turning it up-side down to find it still full of oil or kerosene not sure which, but it made my hands smell of it for ages!

I'm enjoying painting on canvas again, after using boards for so long that I have gessoed and sanded. I have found some really great Italian ones, although cotton and not linen, the surface is really smooth and fine and is such a pleasure to paint on.

They are all metric sizes now as all the manufacturers have finally switched, not that it matters much as I get them framed professionally.

A fantastic still life, Diana! So well painted.. I love the way you painted the brass.. very realistic...the shine and reflections are amazing! The texture on the orange is perfect!!!

Amazing detail in this, Diana, from the woven tray to the molded column of the lamp! Very appealing setup!

Hi there Diana!... The richness of your palette combined with your dynamic composition... really takes the "still" out of this well rendered painting! Bravo!

Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
