1421 Wild Roses SOLD

30 x 30 centimeters = 12" x 12" palette knife painting, oil on canvas,sides painted.
These roses bloomed along with some foxgloves and loads of blackberries in a little copse close to where my daughter lives in Washington. They were so delicate and pretty, blooming away under the dappled shade of the surrounding trees.

1420 A Flurry of Tulips

30 x 30 cms = 12" x 12" oil on stretched canvas, sides painted ready to hang.

This started out as a straight-forward tulip painting, which I thought was rather stiff so I put the photo away and had some fun with it instead.

1419 A Bit Off the Top

6" x 6" oil on panel

I have been enjoying painting reflective surfaces as it can add more interest to a still life. I really need to start painting some larger ones again too, but the big canvases look so daunting, so I chicken out and reach for my small panels and say 'Manana'

I'm going to be taking some ref photos at the week-end of a long haired black and white kitty called Imelda, hope I get some useable shots. I need to be painting more cats as I will be exhibiting at a show in London in August if all goes well, so got to get my skates on.

I have been helping my daughter move so haven't had much time to paint.  This one I started at the week-end and is finally finished today. I wish I could paint as fast as I have ideas!

1416 Hot Reflections

6" x 8" oil on panel,unframed

This one I painted at my class last night, enjoyed painting it. I like the fact that we sketch out the composition first on a seperate piece of paper before starting on the painting itself. Should get into the practice at home too.

I was contacted by one of those art galleries at the week-end, where you pay a fee of $20 a day to the gallery to display your paintings there plus 40% commission on sales on top, by the time I have spent money on framing and the postage to the States from here, it could turn out to be a very expensive experiment so I think I will pass on that 'opportunity'

1415 Lillies

6" x 8" oil on panel
This was one I painted last week in my painting class, not the best but I thought I'd post it anyway. Painted a little sleeping kitty today, which I'll post on my animal blog. Don't forget 'my win a painting' details to the right of this blog.

1414 Rose

7" x 5" oil on gessoed panel

I painted this for the Daily Paintworks Challenge set by Qiang Huang. This is my second attempt the first I painted yesterday on black gessoed panel. Looking at it today I decided to paint this subject again but this time I changed to a light coloured panel it was much easier to get the tones right and this version is a lot looser than yesterday's version and I think a lot better.

1412 Juicy Fruit SOLD

6" x 8" oil on panel, unframed

These 3 delicious cherries were so enjoyable to paint, I had to stop myself from eating them, although they are really out of season here and a bit of a luxury I couldn't resist purchasing them from my local store and justified the expense by painting them.

1411 Tight Squeeze

6" x 6" oil on canvas, sides painted unframed

This is Blackie my daughter's kitty squeezing himself into this little blue bowl or at least most of him, this is how Katy found him and managed to get a quick snap of him, he looks a bit cross, maybe the bowl is not as comfy as he first thought!

1408 A Light Subject

6" x 8" oil on panel

In the short art course I am taking at the moment, we were each asked to paint a clear light bulb, you can imagine how everybody groaned when we saw what we had to paint, amazingly all the paintings turned out really well. I'm not sure what I think of mine though it was an interesting challenge.

1407 Chili Pile Up SOLD

8" x 5 1/4" acrylics on panel,

Another acrylic painting in the same style as the last 2,  loving painting them and the bonus with acrylics, I don't have to wait until the paint is dry like oils!

1406 Before & After SOLD

8" x 4" = 20.3 x 10 cms acrylic on gessoed panel

A real quirky one and no, your eyes aren't deceiving you, the bottle is an odd shape, I thought it needed to be.
I'm enjoying these so much that I can't sleep, the ideas keep swirling around in my brain and I can't paint fast enough to get them all down in paint. I seem to be all consumed with painting and art at the moment and can't think of anything else, I find it so exciting and exhilarating my creative juices are flowing like mad, so I think that I will just go with the flow;))
