6" x 6" oil on canvas 15 x 15 cms
I finished this yesterday but didn't have time to post it, I am very hectic at the moment as I am framing loads of my paintings in readiness for this week-ends Peoples Art 2010 event in Dublin. It is taking me ages to frame them and the weather is hot here in Ireland, very unusual, and I'm panicking a tad. I don't know what to expect as it is an outdoor event with our paintings attached to park railings that is going to be fun especially if it rains or is windy.

6" x 8" oil on gessoed Masonite
Another still life, another attempt at painting loosely, which is harder for me that painting tightly. I watched Carole Marines video on Youtube and she makes it look so easy, like falling off a log! So I can see I need a lot more practice in that area. Ho hum....

Well I just had to paint this little dog again, such a cute face, after painting a couple of 'still lifes' I realized that I prefer to paint people and animals, they have more character than inanimate objects, although some artists have the knack of bringing 'still lifes' to life if that makes any sense!

Similar scene to yesterday but from another angle, those darn elipses drove me crazy, everytime I thought they were ok and checked in the mirror all the mistakes jumped out and off I went again. I was trying to make this a quick one, but didn't quite succeed.

6" x 6" = 15 x 15 cms oil on canvas
This little tot I took a quick snap of on a recent visit to Farmleigh House here in Dublin. She was fascinated by these huge oaken doors the grand entrance to this Stately house and no amount of calling from her parents could coax her away, I'm guessing she was about 2 or 3 years old.
My daughter and I went to see an exhibition of portraits at the gallery there, I was really impressed with the variety of styles and beautiful works of so many talented artists, they were part of the Davy Portrait Awards 2010.
