1224 'Surfer Girl' SOLD

1223 'Smiling Eyes' SOLD

6" x 8" oil on canvas board

Here's a painting of a sweet little tousled haired boy with the most beautiful dark eyes. I painted this for another painting challenge web-site called Windows to the Words by James Parker and can be found on http:windowtothewordsart.blogspot.com.

After spending a lot of time on the last 2 paintings I decided to make this a fast one, to see how quickly I could get a reasonable likeness and finish the painting. It took me aprox 3 hours yesterday, but of course I couldn't resist tweaking it this morning!

1222 'Narcissus'

14" x 18" oil on stretched canvas
This is a painting I have just finished for the painting challenge on Following the Masters blogsite set up by Michelle Burnett. The original painting is by John William Waterhouse and is in the pre-Raphaelite style. The original is many times larger than my effort and I would love to see it in person and really get a feel for it and see how it was executed.

1221 'Katy'' NFS

14" x 18" oil on canvas
This is my youngest daughter Katy, a portrait that has taken a while to complete, I think that I am happy with the resulting painting, it hasn't been an easy one for some reason.

1220 'Sunny' NFS

8" x 10" oil on canvas board

Here is Sunny a cute doggy with a very thick soft coat and was a rescue dog from Greece who had a very rough beginning, but is a very happy doggy now.

1218 'Butter Wouldn't Melt' NFS

8" x 10" oil on canvas board

This is Blackie again, my daughter is holding him so that I could get a snap of him, what a job that was, he doesn't hold still for a minute. As I am writing this he is attacking my bag full of photographic equipment and his sharp claws can shred anything in a matter of minutes! Little so and so.... in the painting he looks so innocent!

It is snowing here in WA at the moment coming down in thick flakes and looks very pretty out of the window, it snowed a bit yesterday but melted away as soon as the sun came out.

I have been painting a portrait of my daughter over the past week and I just can't get her features right, normally I don't have this much trouble oh well I hope I get there in the end.

1217 'Blackie'

8" x 10" oil on canvas board
This is cat number 3 of the 5 cats my daughter owns, he is black all over and still a teenager in cat years and is the most vocal of the group and playful. Here he sits surveying his territory, it was hard to capture him sitting still for more than a few seconds. He loves to ambush the other older cats and sometimes gets a clout for his troubles!

1216 'Mannequin' (available)

5" x 7" acrylic on canvas board

I painted this from a photo of a group of mannequins in a shop window. I chose just one to paint from all of them, she has such an aloof and sad face with a reflection from the glass to her left.
