1300 'On the Look Out'
9" x 12" oil on masonite
This Great Blue Heron that my daughter spied while out on a trip up Stevens Pass, she was taking photos of the river when she came across him standing on the edge among the river rocks with the fast flowing river behind him and the evergreen clad mountain blurred in the background.
After doing some research, I found some information on this beautiful bird :-
Description: The Great Blue Heron is the largest and most widespread heron in North America. It is a large bird, with a slate-gray body, chestnut and black accents, and very long legs and an "S"-shaped neck. Great Blue Herons are very tall and stand 38-54 inches (97-137 cm). In flight, the bird looks enormous, with a six-foot wingspan.
