1226 'Quiet Moment'

12" x 10" oil on stretched canvas

This little lad has sandy knees and I'm guessing he is chilling out in the shade after playing in the sand. This was a challenging one as there were so many subtle colour changes and highlights on his skin and getting the angles right on the features of his face took some doing.

For me the fun of painting is learning something new from every painting and improving, which is sometimes slow and at other times, one takes a large leap forward. Of course a lot of practice helps, so on to the next one.....

Diana, I am loving this one! What a great pose to capture... and, yes, all those skin tones would be quite a challenge, but you handled it so well!

Love this composition and style. You really captured that look that kids get when they are a million miles away. Very endearing and beautifully painted!
