'Plummy' SOLD

4 & 3/4 x 6 & 1/2 inches Oil on canvas board
---------------------------------------------------------------
I have raided my fruitbowl again for these plums that I bought at the local market. The weather is cooling down here so it's much more pleasant to paint, the last time I painted out-doors I nearly had a heat stroke! So sitting in my art room with the fan on is really pleasant.

'Lean on Me' SOLD

4 & 3/4" x 6 & 1/2" oil on board

------------------------------------------------------------------

Two lovely little pears, they seem not to grow very big around here, not a typical Spanish fruit, not like pomegranites that grow wild here.

'Pensive' SOLD

4" x 6.5" inches Oil on canvas board
----------------------------------------------------------------

This small painting was for some reason very difficult to photograph and after many attempts this is the best I can do. She is a really sweet kitty and must feel lovely to cuddle. I enjoyed this one although it took me quite awhile to finish.

'Who Lived Here?' NFS

7.5" x 9.5" Oil on canvas board
--------------------------------------------------------------------

This is one of many ruins that dot the landscape around here, they are very simple dwellings normally two rooms plus one for the donkey. The ruin is framed by three Agave plants. The dried flower stems of these were used as rafters for the cortijos as they were both strong and light. There are very few trees growing naturally around here as this area is very arrid

'Room for One' SOLD

6" x 6" oil on canvas board

------------------------------------------------------------ ------

This lovely bowl I picked up the other day at a flea market. While I was painting it I thought that my perspective was out or I had wonky vision until half way through and on closer inspection of the bowl I realized that one side was lower than the other, so it wasn't me! I love the colours together, happy colours.

'One Missing' SOLD

6.5" x 9.5" inches oil on canvas board SOLD
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's my first tomato painting. I was going to paint five but one fell off my vine, and then there were four. I thought how hard can it be to paint a tomato? mmm not so easy, anyway I think I will have to tackle this subject again soon.

'Lemon Reflections' SOLD

6.5" x 6.5" inches Oil on canvas board

-----------------------------------------------------------------

This is another reflective piece with my new found jug-vase? It has such a lovely shape and it was so much fun painting the reflections I could even see a bit of me sitting in front of it painting (which I didn't include)

'Reflections' SOLD

6.5" X 6.5" inches Oil on canvas board
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I bought this lovely green shiny jug at the local animal charity second-hand shop. I really enjoyed painting this one.

A simple still life of a Gerbera and a hibiscus bloom in a vase that used to belong to my mother and always reminds me of her when I look at it.

'Home Grown Heat' (available)

6.5 " x 6.5" inches, oil on canvas board
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

These chili peppers grew in a pot on my patio and inspired by Carol Marine (my favourite 'painting a day artist') I went out and picked a handful and plonked them down on a low table next to my easel and just painted them! I really enjoyed painting this pic and went ahead and painted another one right after, that you will see tomorrow. I really like the colour combinations of the red, orange and the green.

1006 'Just Visiting' SOLD

9.5" x 7.5" Oil on canvas board
--------------------------------------------------------------------

This painting is a closeup of a part of a photo I snapped of the pretty wild flowers that bloom all the winter here, in great abundance, and the iridescent insect that was just visiting it.

1004 'Brighten the Day' SOLD

6.5"x 4.75"inches oil on canvas board

I saw this cortijo on an overcast day on my way to the local market. The enclosed field in front of it was aglow with the most amazing sea of yellow daisies, which lit up the scene as if the sun was out, luckily I had my camera with me to take a snapshot.

1003 'Prickly Beauties' SOLD

9.5 x 7.5" inches, oil on canvas board
The three pretty flowers of the cactus Chumba-Chumba, as its known here, are certainly more delicate than the plant itself. The Spanish people put them around their properties as a deterrent to trespassers!

1002 "Waiting for his Walk" SOLD

9.5" x 7.5 " inches, oil on canvas board
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been hunting for things to paint and I came across this ornament given to me by a friend, I guess cos she knows I love dogs, and the apple I put in to balance him out. They both sit on a piece of silk I had left over from my silk painting days.
